REHABILITATION OF PATIENTS
SUFFERED FROM MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION BY MEANS OF PHYTOTHERAPY
.............
(truncated)
Today,
one of the urgent problems which modern medicine faces is the prevention
and the treatment of cardiovascular diseases which, according to their
structure of disease incidence of population, take the first place. The
growth of untimely death from coronary heart disease (CHD) and
hypertensive diseases (HD) among the population of Russia of able-bodied
ages is of great concern.
Today,
there exist certain data and practical observations as to the application
of herbs and drugs during the prevention and the treatment of a series of
cardiovascular diseases.
The
possibilities of the application of the preparation made from herbs during
the treatment and rehabilitation of people who have suffered from acute
myocardial infarction have been studied for the first time in a domestic
cardiological practice. As a result of this, new structures of vegetable
compositions ensuring diuretic, cardiotonic, hypolipidemic, thrombolytic
and sedative actions corresponding to pathogenesis of the development of
postinfarction cardiosclerosis have been developed for the first time.
The positive effect of the application of phytocomplexes in patients
suffering from myocardial infarction upon the clinical course of a
disease, the development of complications, restoration of capacity for
work has been proved without bias. Based on the results of the researches,
new phytocollections made from domestic vegetable raw materials for the
treatment of people suffering from acute myocardial infarction have been
developed and introduced into practice. The assigned phytocollections
maintain and restore the activity of mechanisms of detoxication and
phytocardiostimulation, reduce the risk of repeated episodes of myocardial
infarction and unfavourable manifestation of postinfarction
cardiosclerosis. Indications and algorithms of the application of the
mentioned elements of phytotherapy have been developed. The possibility
and the necessity of their application in a clinical practice for the
treatment and rehabilitation of people suffering from acute myocardial
infarction has been proved.
The
clinical observations were conducted in the Health Center of Russian
Academy of Science Uzkoe in 1998-2004. 608 patients suffering from acute
myocardial infarction and those who underwent sanatorium regimen of
rehabilitation were examined. An ordinary treatment without phytotherapy
was provided in the control group composed of 75 people (average age is
73,0 2,7) . In the main group composed of 608 patients (average age is
74,2 3,4) were treated by means of phytotherapy in addition to the
traditional methods. The comparable groups were almost identical based on
the age of the patients, prescription and the prevalence of the disease,
concomitant diseases. The patients suffering from acute myocardial
infarction were assigned therapeutic walk, dietotherapy, drug therapy,
phytotherapy. Health Center Uzkoe of Russian Academy of Science has
developed original methods, technologies and algorithms of comprehensive
phytotherapeutic treatment of patients who have suffered from acute
myocardial infarction with the use of the collections of herbs
(phytocompositions) and phytopreparations. The structure of
phytocompositions included herbs which contribute to the reduction of
unfavourable after-effects of acute myocardial infarction (disturbance of
coronary circulation and contractive capacity of myocardium, the reduction
of ischemic zones and sclerosis myocardium, prevention of the development
of arrhythmia, cardiac insufficiency etc.)
CONCLUSIONS:
We have
developed a system of phytorehabilitation of the patients suffering from
acute myocardial infarction. This system failed to yield any positive
results and effect in 49 people out of 608 people (8%). These results show
that this system can be used for sanitary-resort institutions of the given
profile.
REVIEW
The
authors have worked out an original system of phytorehabilitation of
patients who have suffered from myocardial infarction by means of the
preparations of vegetable origin. It includes phytocollections which have
diuretic, antisclerotic and cardiotonic properties. 92% of 608 patients
had positive results. Thus, it can be recommended as auxiliary agents for
further application in medicine for those who have suffered from
myocardial infarction. |
